While travelling we will try and identify opportunities to help local communities, be it helping with local schools, farming and business. Who knows what we will find along the way but each opportunity will be a chance to help one or many individuals, especially the children of Africa.

We have decided to team up with AfriKids and join their team in northern Ghana to lend a hand. AfriKids has been selected as one of two charities of the year by a prominent German investment bank and the bank will provide support and fundraising for AfriKids during 2010 so our involvement will help drive a campaign which will hopefully lead to a successful relationship and fundraising year.

AfriKids is a Child Rights organisation working to improve life for Ghana’s most vulnerable and disadvantaged children. Rather than spreading their work across a continent or focusing on a single ‘headline’ issue, AfriKids has invested time and resources in making real and fundamental change to the society and economy of one region. By doing this AfriKids has uncovered the extraordinary passion and ability of the local people there and is achieving something unique; genuine sustainability.

Dale and I plan to spend a couple of weeks in northern Ghana, being introduced to AfriKids' array of projects and hoping to add a little value volunteering and raising awareness of their efforts.

If you would like more information on AfriKids please click on their like and if you are generous, which we know you are please feel free to donate to their cause of sign up to lend a hand.

The second campaign of choice is a UNICEF project. Every minute, one child dies and four children lose a parent because of AIDS-related illness. Already 15 million children have been orphaned by AIDS. Help UNICEF make a difference by supporting their global campaign, Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS.

In October 2005 UNICEF launched its first international campaign - Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS. The campaign is running for five years until 2010, with the aim of bringing the urgent needs of children affected by HIV to the world’s attention.

UNICEF UK’s Born Free Campaign is part of this global effort to bring about real and lasting change for children affected by HIV.

We will summit the highest mountains in North, West, East and Southern Africa in an attempt to raise £10 000 for UNICEF's Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS. We will be joined by like minded friends and family to tackle Kilimanjaro and help raise funds for these children. Please help us raise these funds and help improve or give a life to the children affected by HIV/Aids. Click on this SawubonAfrica Fundraising link and make your donation. Thank you for your contribution.
