Extensive external modifications were made to provide additioanl space, increase fuel capacity, protection against damage, raised and tougher suspension and recovery.

Suspension: The suspension was upgraded to heavy duty Old Man Emu 150kg and 600kg coil springs on the front and rear and are paired with Old Man Emu's Nitrocharge shock absorbers. The coils are rated as possibly the best but after doing further research it seems there may be better shocks on the market. Nonetheless, they should do the job. The steering stabalizer was also upgraded to Old Man Emu. All suspension bushes were upgraded to SuperPro poly bushes.

Tyres and wheels: There are two choices when it comes to tyres, Michelin or BF Goodrich. I decided to go for 285/75 16R BF Goodrich All Terrains as they offer exceptional terrain versatility and are renowned for thir strength and durability. The fitted alloys were dumped and replaced with six original Toyota steel rims.

Bull bar and wheel carrier: ARB and TJM offer the largest choice of 4X4 fittings. I chose TJM and although had a few problems fitting the items they are strong and functional. They are the original Outback 4X4 fittings producers.
