Paul and his team at Footloose 4X4 dedicated months to ensure Mvubu had the best possible preparation for the trip. The team has prepared hundreds of vehicles and each one, no doubt, received the same meticulous care and attention to detail. Paul himself has traveled the world over and for this reason knows the ins and outs... Thanks a ton guys, there is a reason why I gave up on the DIY plan...

Brendan at Outdoor Network helped prep up the art work used on this site and Outdoor Network printed the vinyl and contravission used on the vehicle. Outdoor Network have an extensive client base in Africa and specialise in outdoor advertising via billboards etc. Special thanks to them for their help and the many beers when in South Africa...

TBR UK are suppliers of various 4X4 equipment and accessories and have an extensive product base specific to each vehicle. They also do vehicle preparation work. Trevor is the ultimate customer serviceman. Many thanks to Trevor and other staff at TBR for running around taking my orders and following up with suppliers.

OEC International are the UK distributors of TJM products and also do overland vehicle preparation work. Anton does his business proud and was more than happy to resolve all issues encountered with the TJM wheel carriers.

Front Runner are one of South Africa's major 4X4 accessories and equipment producers. I was fortunate enough to purchase several items from them at a beneficial exchange rate and Bobby is always happy to make a plan. The benefit of buying larger items from them is that it is often 50% of the cost in the UK however getting the gear to the UK can be costly. As they say back in SA, ' 'n boer maak 'n plan! '.

Jackal Berry Canvas Solutions manufacture canvas products from toiletry bags to spare wheel cover canvas bins. Charmaine arranged for custom seat covers to be made for Mvubu as the seats were not the same as the SA 80 Series'. Again, one of the best seat cover manufacturers in SA and if you can make a plan to get the seat covers etc from them directly you will save a good few Pounds. They worked wonders from my very rough diagrams of the seats!

Outdoor Warehouse is the ultimate outdoor enthusiast's favourite store in South Africa. All our bits and bobs were bought from this magnificent store. I'm sure they'd do well in the UK if they opened stores here. It is often a case of shopping till you drop but all great quiality and very well priced.

Craghoppers have a great range of outdoor clothes for both men and women. Their brand and quality has been marketed through adventure and outdoor man Bear Grylls and they always have great sales so take advantage of a bargain...

Cape Union Mart are another very well known outdoor clothing and accessories company in South Africa. The staff at the Gateway store went out of their way to secure the most of their specials they have on and ordered in clothing from First Ascent to get us exactly what we needed at the special prices. First Ascent is a manufacturer of superb outdoor gear and will no doubt compete with the American and European brands. I'm testing their gear on Kili!

Last but not least is Go Claws by Flextrax. These a high-tech alternative to snow chains or in our case mud chains, are made from polyurethane so are much lighter and easier to fit. Check out their website and keep track of our videos to catch them in action.Flextrax was the only 'sponsor' of the trip and Kurt, the president of this American company, shipped over three sets of Go Claws and in exchange I'll be putting them to the test en route and video their success in slippery and gungy conditions. Kurt, thank you for being so generous and hopefully we will have time to pop by Ider in Alabama to thank you personally en route to Alaska during our second trip with HolaSAmerica.com.

Hylton James is a friend of Kirk's and has participated in extreme events around the world and is an inspiration to all those budding 'adventurers'. His latest achievement was being placed first (mixed teams) and fourth over all in the Amundsen Omega 3 South Pole Race as featured on 'On Thin Ice' with Ben Fogle and James Cracknell. Though we'd link to each other's sites for a little more coverage and to promote Hylton who has achieved so much more.

Gareth, aka Stan, Healy is compiling a very useful web site to gather data and info from all forms of overland travels. The Overlander may be a good starting point for gathering info when planning an overland trip using all modes of transport. Good luck Stan and will be sure to provide you with info en route.
